Cause for Great Celebration
Chhelum in Pakistan, Dia del Padre in Panama, Youth Day in South Africa,
International Day of the African Child
Somebody's mom once said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything." Perhaps, I should heed this advice, today!
I guess I should update everyone (as if anyone is actually reading this) as to what's going on in the life and times of the Happy Camper.
The best news is that school is out. The kids have been out since June 6th. But, I've been doing paperwork ever since then. And trying to get my room packed so that the maintenance people can get the floors stripped, waxed and buffed. I HAVE to have everything dome (as far as packing goes) by tomorrow. Mr. Keith has agreed to go with me to the school so that it will sure get done. He's a great packer and stacker. Of course, I am a little biased. I've not found anything he's bad at, yet.
This year's class went through a lot, indeed. With me being out the first half of the year, I know that was tough on them. They were "Miss S's class" but, then again, they really weren't because I had a sub. The little guys had 9 students leave them during the course of the year and only 2 new ones come in. I ended up with 12 at the end of the year. Some teachers out there might think to themselves "A class of 12, how ideal!!" Please also take into consideration our Title 1 status, our High Priority Schools Status and the billion other negative labels we seem to collect and you'll see why class sizes have to be lower @ my school.
I had a gyno exam as part of the transplant listing process. They did all the usual stuff, asked all the customary questions and stuck over-sized, cold, metal tools in all of the customary spots. Since my menstrual cycle was so farked up, they decided to do a ultrasound of all my female parts. At the time of the exam, the doctor told me that I had an endrometrial growth, "probably benign", in my uterus and that it needed to be removed and checked to see if it was cancerous. Before I can have this surgery, I have to get medical clearance from the doctors at the dialysis center. Being the burecrats that they are, the clinic was taking FOREVER. So, what did I do? I had the gyn fax another copy of the paperwork to the center and I made sure I got a hold of the fax before anyone else could file 13 it. Reminder to self: Don't read faxes that aren't addressed to you. Second paragraph, last sentence: "We found a growth that is consistent with malignancy."
GRRRReat!
